BEAUTY PRODUCT HOARDERS
This blog post is for you. 🙂
Trust me when I say, I understand. There are times I want to hold on to a favorite shadow because its discontinued and well I’m only using it on myself, so whats the harm in that?
Well.. I’m here to be the bearer of bad news.
Dun Dun Dun…..
Sounds real pleasant, right?
It’s time to let go of that old palette we’ve had for years. After all, our makeup products are constantly evolving. I can guarantee there is something out there thats even better!
So lets take the weekend to start our Spring Cleaning!
Makeup Shelf Life
Foundation/Concealer: 2 Years
I don’t even know how someone could make a foundation last 2 years! However I’m guessing if you buy a lot of makeup like myself, there is a slight chance a foundation can be pushed to the back of the drawer and in return become forgotten about.
Blush/Bronzer/Powder: 2 Years
I definitely have my collection of bronzers just collecting dust. I guess it’s time to trash! Yes- even I struggle with this!
Eyeshadow: 2 Years
Say goodbye to those old palettes, they need to go! Plus, there are some amazing new eyeshadow palettes that have come out lately! Treat yourself.
Lipstick/Lipgloss: 1 Year
If you haven’t lost your lipgloss for an entire year, consider yourself lucky! Ha! Although that probably means your time is up! Go upgrade and get a new one.
Lipliner/Eyeliner: 1 Year
Yes, even these expire too! Although I am a little surprised with the 1 year shelf life. I would have thought lipliners and eyeliners would last longer than that.
Mascara: 6 Months
This is a big one. I just reposted an article on our Glam and Gab facebook group about how terrible it is to use old mascaras. A lady claimed that if you don’t wash your makeup off properly and/or keep your mascara for too long, you can develop microscopic bugs that live within your lashes. Umm.. WHAT?! That’s enough to make me want to dump every eye product I have and start fresh!
Let me know if you guys clean out your drawers this weekend!
I know I’m going to!
