If you’ve been following my pregnancy you’d know I’m well into my second trimester!
That’s when things are supposed to change for the better… right? Well for the most part, yes. (I’m no expert.. but this is straight from the OB himself!) However there are still some symptoms that I’ve been experiencing that have me questioning everyone I’ve ever known who has had a baby!
After reading Jenny McCarthy’s book, Belly Laughs, I’ve been really inspired to be super open and honest about this topic. Not that I haven’t been before, but reading someone else symptoms and relating to them 100% gave me a nice piece of mind.
So.. lets get down to it!
I figured I’d start with the good because if you’re reading this and you’ve never been pregnant but thinking about it, I’d rather not completely scare you off from the idea! Ha!
Now let me not exaggerate here because am I currently feeling like I can run the LA Marathon tomorrow, no. However I do feel slightly less tired than my First Trimester. When they tell you, you’re going to feel fatigued during the first 12 weeks, they ARE NOT lying. During my First Trimester, I couldn’t take enough naps. I felt like I was a newborn. I’d be sitting on the couch watching one of my shows and before I knew it, I was out cold. I’m sure I was real fun company to my husband. Currently, I can get away without taking any naps during the day! Although, I still go to bed early.
Buh Bye, Nausea
I was lucky to have never actually thrown up during my First Trimester but that’s not to say I wasn’t nauseous all the damn time. Not to mention, it wasn’t just in the morning… It was morning, afternoon, and night. I’d feel perfectly fine and then instantly feel this wave of sickness out of nowhere! I lived with those Sea Bands on my wrists during this time. They helped a ton. Needless to say, my nausea is gone and I’m feeling great in that department.
Kick Kick, Tap Tap
I don’t exactly know what she’s doing in there but I currently feel her move all the time! It’s the craziest feeling! At first I didn’t know if it was gas or not… just wait, I’ll get to that subject later. Yet now, I can totally tell the difference! It feels like she’s tapping my lower abdomen, like “hello there mom, I’m in here!” It usually happens more or should I say I’m more aware of it when I’m sitting and/or lying down.
Long Hair, Don’t Care
I don’t know if it’s the consistent use of PreNatals or what but my hair is growing so quickly. Nothing to complain about here! I’ll take the long locks. I’m hoping I see some thickness as well because I have heard you lose a lot after giving birth.. (I know, scary thought)
See Ya Later, Anxiety
I can’t say its completely gone away but that overwhelming anxiety that I was feeling in the beginning of my pregnancy has slowly dissipated. I’m lucky to have frequent doctor appointments that usually ease my overactive brain. I’ve also learned to STOP GOOGLING EVERYTHING. Literally everything I’d search always followed with something horrible. Now I just have my doctors number on speed dial.. Ha!
THE BAD + UGLY
I feel like this photo is a tad dramatic because are my symptoms totally unmanageable, no. Are they driving me a little nuts, yes!
Pimple Here, Pimple There
Pre-pregnancy, I rarely had any pimples. If I had one pop up it was because it was that time of the month but that’s pretty much it. Now.. oh man. My skin is just never fully clear. These new little friends come to surprise me every single day. There is an Old Wives Tale that says when you’re pregnant with a girl, they steal your beauty. Well in my case, that is 100% the truth. I’ve been using the Belli Skin Care Line hoping it will preform some miracles. It’s improving but still not totally amazing.
I tried to make that sound as cute as possible but lets face it.. THERE IS NOTHING CUTE ABOUT BEING GASSY. NOTHING. EVER. I don’t care how comfortable I am with someone, I don’t want to be just letting it all go in front of them. Ya know what I mean? It doesn’t even matter what I eat during the day, the gas is just that little pregnancy symptom I’m weirdly getting used to. Oh and while were on this topic.. going Number 2 regularly is like a distant memory.
Pass The Tylenol
Have you ever gone to bed with a headache and woken up with a headache? That was my life everyday during the early weeks of my Second Trimester. I even changed my pillows because I was convinced they were the root of the problem. It wasn’t until I went to a doctors appointment and was told indeed headaches were a thing within pregnancy. I was told to take some Tylenol if they got really bad. Thankfully they were short lived and I’m back to waking up just fine.
That’s just it. I don’t necessarily look pregnant yet, I just look plump. I wanna wear a sign above my head that says, I promise I don’t look like this normally, I’m pregnant. Pre-pregnancy I was always pretty strict on myself, I stuck to eating healthy and the occasional workouts. I easily maintained a comfortable weight for myself by making this my lifestyle. I’m currently 18 weeks (19 weeks tomorrow) and looking like I am enjoying everything in sight. That may sound a little dramatic but this is a weird change for me. I’m ready to fully “pop” and look pregnant. (… I say that now but I guarantee come 35 weeks, I’ll be regretting those words. Haha!)
Have any of you seen or perhaps been to Niagara Falls? I’ve only seen photos but I’m imagining it looks similar to what my nosebleeds look like, minus the red blood of course. I’m not kidding. Gushing blood coming out of my nose. Between that and the gas, I sound super desirable, right? Yesterday I had a nosebleed that I swear lasted 30 minutes, good thing I was home and not anywhere else! I don’t know if this is a Second Trimester thing or what but I’m ready for these to stop.
Call Me Mrs. Crank
Moody should become my middle name. Have you ever seen that shirt, “Be Nice to Me, My Wife is Pregnant”?? I need to order that for my husband ASAP. I feel so terrible but at times I feel as though I can’t even control it. Poor guy, he’s convinced he’s living with a crazy person.
What were/are some of your symptoms?!
I’d love to compare!
