How To Induce Labor.. Or So They Say.
Now let me start off by saying, these are are Old Wives Tales.. This is not information coming from my Dr. However, I think they’re fun to read and share what people say worked for them!
It’s believed that spicy foods bring on labor because they usually cause your bowels to get moving (if ya know what I mean…) and consequently your uterus, too.
I wanted to test this theory out so I loaded up my tacos with Tapatio to the point where my mouth felt something like the fiery gates of hell and guess what… nothing happened. lol All that discomfort for nothin! Although it was delicious, so there’s that.
One of the enzymes found in pineapple, Bromelain, has been said to soften the cervix which in return will start dilation.
I feel like I ate an entire pineapple in one day.. No dilation over here.
Red Raspberry Tea Leaf
This specific tea is supposed to be known to start contractions. It’s also caffeine free, which is nice if you’ve given up caffeine during your pregnancy!
I’ve heard from multiple people that dates don’t necessarily get you going into labor, however they do make your delivery an easier process. They are supposed to speed up your delivery. Who doesn’t like the sound of that?
I personally think they look like roaches. So I have a VERY hard time eating them. Ha!
The Famous Salad from Caioti
They claim it’s their dressing that causes women to quickly go into labor. If you live in Los Angeles, it is known that if you’re around your due date, it’s a must that you stop and try this salad.
I tried it. I didn’t go into labor but it was sure delicious! I’d for sure go back.
Again, absolutely delicious but no labor. Baby seemed to like it, too. 🙂
This may have some truth to it. I’ve read that keeping active such as walking and swimming helps start your labor.
As you all know, I’m somewhat stuck to the couch so I wouldn’t know if this works!
I had a friend tell me that getting a prenatal massage at this point in pregnancy can trigger labor. Something about massaging in between the shoulder blades helps get the ball rolling.
I don’t know if it works or not but it sure sounds nice!
Obviously this is something you’d want to talk to your Dr. about first. However if they give you the approval, go for it! I know many people that swear by acupuncture for other things.
No picture needed with this one. Haha. I’ve read mixed reviews on this. Some people say it worked, others say it didn’t do anything!
Another activity that didn’t need a photo! The theory behind this is that when your nipples are stimulated it releases oxytocin from the brain which then leads to contractions.
I’m letting other people make that judgement call on whether this works or not. Haha.
What worked for you? Anything special?
